The Shadows of Light

Scholastic Gold Key Award - Displayed in The State Museum of Pennsylvania in 2017

When I was 17, I took a picture of colorful bottles my art teacher had in the classroom. When the bottles were placed in sunlight, colorful shadows and reflections were created. I referenced the photo for my senior AP Portfolio. As part of the portfolio, my concentration focused on how the value of light affects its surroundings on people, animals, objects, and different settings. I wanted to capture the intricate details that grew more complex as the intensity of the light increases. After many hours of detailed work throughout my classes, The Shadows of Light, was created.

The drawing was later entered into the Scholastic Art & Writing Award Competition in 2017 and received a Gold Key award and was on display in the Pennsylvania State Museum. At the end of the school year, I received a perfect score (5) for my AP Portfolio.

Ashlyn- "Friend"

Scholastic Gold Key Award - Displayed in The State Museum of Pennsylvania in 2017

When I was 17, I created a realistic colored pencil drawing of my friend and teammate, Ashlyn. The drawing took almost 30 hours to complete

and was part of my AP Art Portfolio my Senior year of High School. The drawing was entered into the National Scholastic Art & Writing Award Competition and received a Gold key Award and was on display in the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

Desert Blossom

Scholastic Gold Key Award - Displayed in The State Museum of Pennsylvania in 2016

This drawing was inspired when I lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 3 years. During the spring, I took some pictures of the cacti around my house that bloomed. This led to the creation of the drawing. I lived on the east coast the majority of my life, so I was inspired to create a drawing showing what the desert looked like in bloom. The drawing was later displayed in The Pennsylvania State Museum in 2016.

Lily - "Summer Rain"

Scholastic Gold Key Award

I created this piece as part of my AP Portfolio the summer leading up to my senior year of High School. I chose to draw a lily to capture the intricate details of the raindrops. The concentration of my portfolio focused on the values and reflections of light in different settings.

Duckling

Scholastic Gold Key Award - Displayed in The State Museum of Pennsylvania in 2016

I was 14 when I created this colored pencil drawing out of my love for ducklings. A year later, the drawing received a Scholastic Gold Key Award and was on display in the Pennsylvania State Museum my sophomore year of High School.

Sea Turtle

Scholastic Gold Key Award - Displayed in The State Museum of Pennsylvania in 2016

I was 16 when I spent the entire summer creating a 48- hour colored pencil drawing of a sea turtle. This is currently my longest drawing I have made so far. I got inspired to create a time-lapse video to film the creation of the drawing from start to finish all on my iphone 4. After many hours of editing the footage, I created my first Youtube video. This inspired me to create more drawing videos capturing the time-consuming process of how I create my artwork. When I was 17, I upgraded to a video camera, tripod, and new editing software to film more videos. This was how my Youtube Channel began. My drawing was entered into the Scholastic Art & Writing Award Competition in 2016 and received a Gold Key Award.
